Believe!by Kathy Key
Jesus told a parable of three servants who were chosen to oversee their master’s money. The master had confidence and an expectancy that the servants could be entrusted with what they were given and had the capabilities to be successful. Two of the servants doubled their income, while the third servant hid the money until his master returned. The master was well pleased with the efforts of the first two servants, but was very angry with the third servant for hiding the money in the ground. (You can read the parable in Matthew 25:14-30.) Why were two servants successful, while the third servant failed? What was it that made the difference between success and failure? Belief. The first two servants had enough belief in their potential that they were willing to try hard to succeed so as to please their master. They believed and envisioned possibilities and worked hard to accomplish them. The third servant did not believe and was ruled by his fear. He did not believe enough in his own potential to even try. Instead he stuffed it away where no one could find it. Is your belief greater than your fear? If so, then you will look at the possibilities with expectancy and delight in pleasing the Lord. If your fear is greater than your belief, you may be tempted to hide the possibilities away from view by stuffing them into hidden closets and drawers in your heart. Hiding it is a way to avoid facing it. You are a woman whom God has entrusted divine potential and talents that He knows you are capable of because He created you. Whether a leader in the business world or a woman in ministry, we must take seriously what God has entrusted to us. He’s chosen you for the task and believes you can do it! Do you believe in your God-given abilities enough to even try? Don’t let fear stop you from unlocking the divine potential that God is waiting for you to discover. The wrongdoing is not in failing, but in not trying. |

FOR REFLECTION: 1. What potential has God entrusted you with that has been in hiding? 2. What do you believe regarding this potential? Honestly ask yourself if your belief is greater than your fear, or if your fear is greater than your belief. 3. What step can you take toward making the possibility a reality? |
