Dr. Rod MacIlvaine

Executive Leadership Coach

Dr. MacIlvaine’s custom coaching practice is focused on clarity that leads to change.

Rod loves helping people clarify 1) who they are, 2) where they want to go, and 3) how to get there as efficiently as possible. He’s also skilled at coaching people to lead with exceptional skill once they arrive.

Most leaders need to articulate their “why” – their vision within their organization. Rod’s clarity-coaching process will help you identify not only your why, but will help you craft how to state your why in ways that are compelling for those you lead.

Through Rod’s custom coaching model, you will first feel deeply understood, and then you will quickly gain actionable ideas: ideas that fit with your unique strengths…ideas that will move you and your organization forward.

A key value in Rod’s approach is compassion. Not only has he coached senior leaders in the profit sector, but he has coached cross-culturally in the non-profit sector in places like North Africa, Central America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean. He applies that compassion in all his coaching relationships.

Among Rod’s coaching certifications are the following…

  • Board certified professional life coach with the ICCA.
  • Gallup-certified strengths coach with advanced training from Gallup instructors.
  • Core Values Index coach-trainer and a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator practitioner
  • Certified by the Cultural Intelligence Center as a CQ-Certified Facilitator who helps people skillfully navigate cross cultural boundaries with wisdom and grace.

A strong proponent of continuing education, he serves on the adjunct faculties of Oklahoma Wesleyan University and Dallas Theological Seminary. Moreover, he has published academic articles in the field of wellness and faith and has been footnoted in the scholarly wellness literature.

Rod is graduate of Southern Methodist University and holds a doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary. Because of his commitment to physical wellness as predictor in success, he is a graduate of the plant-based nutrition certificate program at Cornell University.

Rod and his wife Cindy have been married for nearly 40 years. They have four grown children and 10 grandchildren. By avocation, Rod is a sailor. He and his father have led multiple large-vessel trips throughout the Caribbean. The story of their ocean cruising experiences was recently featured in SAIL Magazine.
